Joe Popp has performed with several popular rock bands and as a singer-songwriter. His bands, Joe Popp, dogs on ice, and The Hornrims, have released 8 albums internationally, and have opened for Cheap Trick, Joan Jett, Blink 182, Green Day, Jawbox, and many others. Popp’s acoustic duo, Lost Axis, toured Europe performing in England, Ireland, Belgium, and Amsterdam. He has also played in every one of the 48 Continental United States as a singer-songwriter on a motorcycle during his 95-day episodic adventure series – Popp Over America. The pilot episode received several national film awards.

Joe Popp is also a prolific theater composer and has written original music for 7 full-length rock musicals including In The Bubble directed by Michael Grief of RENT fame. Popp’s most recent theater production, Macbeth: A Rock Musical, opened in October of 2023 at the Seattle Public Theater and sold out all but 2 performances.

After 23 years of living in NYC, Joe Popp left his 21-year position as the Technical Director of the Sonic Arts Center at The City College of New York and relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where he grew up as a teen. Current plans are to focus on songwriting and his Studio Consulting/Guitar Product Manufacturing company, Popp Rock Shop
